ALAN MADISON IS NEW DIRECTOR
CENTER MOVES TO WASHINGTON
NEW YORK – Alan M. Madison, a long-time public affairs specialist in Washington, D.C., has been named director of the Japan Steel Information Center (JSIC), effective November 1. JSIC is the voice of the Japanese steel industry in the United States.
In making the announcement, Hiroshi Adachi, chairman of JSIC, noted that, in the past , Mr. Madison “successfully provided the JSIC message to the media during periods of crisis involving trade cases. Our experience with him at that time convinced us that he will provide the support Japanese steelmakers need to continue to maintain an interchange with various U.S. audiences.”
He succeeds Charles Butler who has directed the Center’s activities since its inception in 1967. Mr. Adachi thanked Mr. Butler for “his years of service in developing programs to provide the industry’s views in the United States” and wished him well in his retirement.
With Mr. Madison’s appointment, the Center’s headquarters will move from New York to Washington, D.C.
The Center is supported by Japan Iron & Steel Federation, a Tokyo-based not-for-profit trade association comprised of Japanese steel producers and trading companies.
